Requirements
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
- Current certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, with licensure in Tennessee.
- Active Tennessee DEA license or ability to obtain.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to manage complex medical conditions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare team members.
- Commitment to evidenced-based practice, continuous learning, and professional development.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including medical history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
- Collaborate with transplant surgeons, pulmonologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Orders, performs, interprets and collects data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
- Prescribes therapeutic interventions both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic and surgical, needed to achieve expected outcomes.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to optimize patient outcomes.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families throughout the transplant process, including pre-operative preparation and post-operative care.
- Provides specialty specific consultation services upon request and within specialty scope of practice.
- Monitor and evaluate patients’ responses to treatment, adjusting therapy as necessary to optimize outcomes and minimize complications.
- Utilizes evidence-based, approved practice protocols in planning and implementing care.
- Initiates appropriate referrals and consultations.
- Facilitates the patient’s transition between and within health care settings, such as admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior clinical experience in critical care, pulmonary medicine, or transplant medicine strongly preferred.
