Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience
  • 2D/3D Electro Magnetic Finite Element Analysis, System Modeling (Mathcad, Matlab, Flux2D), Thermal Analysis
  • Must be sole US citizen and be able to obtain and maintain DOD security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Perform transient simulation and simulation-based design of electrical motors, generators, exciters and controls utilizing various engineering tools.
  • Develop design information for use in reports, specifications and drawings.
  • Direct support personnel in product design, analysis, fabrication, and testing.
  • Transient simulation of electric motors including linear motors, generators, exciters, rectifiers, motor drives and controls using Matlab, Simulink, and Simscape Electrical Specialized Power Systems.
  • Develop Direct and Quadrature circuit development and analysis of electric motors, generators, and exciters.
  • Development of novel circuits and simulation for conducting water issues in water cooled motors and generators.
  • Assess new and existing equipment to optimize design efficiency, safety, quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Provides engineering design, maintenance support and training for new product and equipment.
  • Capable of leading engineering teams through moderately complex technical issues.
  • Actively supports development of engineering planning for development of new designs and redesign efforts.
  • Performs engineering assignments in a timely manner under minimal guidance of a more senior engineer.
  • Plans, coordinates, and executes, with guidance, a variety of engineering activities including documentation, reporting, publishing, and making technical or other presentations.
  • Ability to create models and drawings, present design reviews, and perform trade studies and design reviews with minimal guidance.
  • Capable of coordinating multiple project responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree preferred
