Requirements
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Accounting
- Chartered Professional Accountant (Canada) or Certified Public Accountant (U.S.) designation
- 5+ years of experience working in a public accounting setting auditing financial statements for investment companies or 5+ years of experience working in a similar role in a fund administration setting overseeing preparation of financial statements for investment companies
- US GAAP expertise, in particular with respect to ASC 946 Financial Services – Investment Companies
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Proven ability to lead an engagement by utilizing excellent verbal and written communication skills and previous experience of being an ‘in-charge’
- Proven ability to work under intensive deadlines and handle competing priorities.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates the entire process of preparing U.S. GAAP, IFRS and ASPE quarterly, semi-annual and annual financial statements for multiple clients
- Standardizes the reporting process while also working to improve and streamline it
- Collaborates with the Fund Accounting department and supervises junior Financial Reporting staff in order to assure effective financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards and internal procedures
- Drafts financial statements note disclosures based on legal documents and updates presentation of core financial statements and financial statements note disclosures to reflect requirements of newly adopted accounting pronouncements
- Communicates with the clients and the auditors on on-going basis to assure effective planning and issue resolution
- Provides on-the-job training and oversees performance of junior Financial Reporting staff.
