Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years in public affairs, government relations, or a similar role
  • Expertise and interest in key policy areas: sustainability, human rights, labor standards, franchise business model, and more
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities
  • Familiarity with global legislative and policy processes, including the UN system
  • Proven track record of external stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration
  • Exceptional communication, research, and analytical skills
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required

Responsibilities

  • Help shape and optimize McDonald’s global external stakeholder engagement strategy— mapping, auditing and managing partnerships that align with our ambitions and values.
  • Create and manage a calendar of key global stakeholder events that provide opportunity to enhance brand reputation.
  • Execute activations at global convenings, including COP and UNGA/Climate Week, ensuring meaningful engagement that aligns with strategic business objectives.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key external stakeholders, including industry groups, influencers, NGOs and policymakers to ensure that McDonald’s interests are represented.
  • Drive McDonald’s reputation-building efforts through outreach, education and proactive storytelling to key audiences.
  • Develop “One McDonald’s Way” of external stakeholder engagement and support upskilling of internal teams and global markets.
  • Develop, manage and champion an internal system of tracking stakeholder relationships.
  • Monitor global news, political developments and emerging issues to identify risks and opportunities, working with policy managers, markets and internal functions to proactively address potential challenges.
