Your Growth
You will join our Tampa office and be part of the US-Center and North America HR teams. As the leader of the US-Center HR team, you will lead the HR support for the ~1,200 colleagues who are located in our Tampa, Phoenix, and Miramar locations and who work in global firm functions across many paths such as Assistants and Practice Management, Finance, People Operations, Learning, and Visual Graphics & Media.
Importantly, you will serve as a cultural steward to set the tone, model and apply firm values, and ensure inclusion & diversity in the office. Apart from these, you will also be the primary point-of-contact for sensitive people issues such as involuntary separation, disciplinary action and potential legal complications arising from people or societal challenges of the locations.
Your Impact
As the leader of McKinsey’s US-Center Human Resources team, you will be responsible for leading our HR teams that supports our colleagues in our US Center locations (Tampa, Phoenix, and Miramar) to ensure distinctive HR support from onboarding to departures.
You will manage compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including applicable state laws; foster an excellent working relationship with the HR Ops team in Tampa; and serve as a trusted advisor on personnel issues to all colleagues and office leadership.
In addition, you will manage HR-related risk issues, including personal conduct, performance remediation, terminations, leaves of absence, flexible work arrangements, background checks, and immigration and mobility, in collaboration with NA HR leadership North America people leadership, and Firm Legal as necessary.
You will be an active and contributing member of both our Center HR team professionals supporting our global support offices/centers and the NA HR Manager (HRM) group and local administrative leadership teams, assuming leadership of one or more HR service lines at a national level over time and leading/contributing to projects for the region.
You will serve as a thought- and business-partner to local leaders across the functions and service lines providing counsel on people matters and issues and serving as a trusted advisor to leadership and as a point of contact for local colleagues on HR policies and guidelines.
You will collaborate with the other People function colleagues on global & regional policy and process changes, benefits and compensation programs, and talent management. You will be responsible for implementing changes in the locations.
You will be expected to foster an excellent working relationship with the with your stakeholders – working collaboratively on shared processes, following best practices, and jointly problem solving on ongoing process improvements.
Your qualifications and skills
- University degree and excellent academic record required; advanced degree preferred
- 8+ years’ experience in a global organization with progressing responsibilities; strong preference for experience in human resources or other people-focused or people-leadership role
- Must have the maturity and gravitas to professionally handle sensitive people matters – minimizing liability for the firm and finding amicable solutions
- Must have an entrepreneurial mindset to lead change and think strategically and act as a business thought-partner to managers and team leaders
- Open, agile and resilient with high-integrity and excellent judgment
- Proactive, responsive, and collaborative working style that helps build credibility and trustworthiness
- Deliberative and effective executive problem solving; strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
