Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelors degree program at an accredited college or university with a major course work in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years’ Project Management experience managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects
  • 5-8 years of applicable business experience
  • Proven track record managing complex projects
  • Ability to solve business problems and develop user/business-driven technology strategies and plans
  • Broad knowledge and facility with operational and/or enterprise IT including foundation in core IT concepts such as networking, security, application development/implementation, data management, etc.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (including ability to present ideas in user-friendly, business-friendly and technical language) and interpersonal skills with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, including ability to anticipate, identify, and solve critical problems
  • Exceptional customer service orientation

Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning, prioritization, and execution of IT projects within the OIT Operations umbrella
  • Manage productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist OIT in fostering strong and collaborative partnerships between OIT Operations and other units
  • Manage a small team of IT project management professionals
  • Work closely and collaboratively with OIT Operations leadership to set priorities and strategic directions
  • Communicate with stakeholders and set divisional goals for supporting Citywide partners
  • Develop employees under their supervision
  • Assign projects and priorities; address blockers
  • Identify and advocate for unit needs
  • Manage roadmaps for the operations project portfolio related to departmental priorities
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of major project timelines
  • Follow effective relationship and project management processes
  • Conduct regular reviews, priority-setting, and planning sessions with departmental partners
  • Analyze performance of activities and document resolutions
  • Monitor request handling and escalation policies and procedures
  • Track and analyze status and trends and generate reports for internal and external audiences
  • Keep supervisor informed of current and potential issues
  • Ensure excellent project documentation
  • Serve as Operations’ primary representative on cross-PMO planning, processes, and Gates

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification or Master’s Certificate in Project Management preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience is determined to be acceptable by the Office of Innovation & Technology and Human Resources
