Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible health and safety experience including experience in a leadership role implementing health & safety management systems and fostering safety culture development within an operations and office environment within the oil and gas industry is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, strategic, initiate and manage change, work collaboratively, negotiate, influence, facilitate, solve problems, make decisions, work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver results.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership of the H&S team, including developing strategic plans and establishing priorities aligned with EGUWI and Enbridge goals and ensuring appropriate resources, succession planning and career development.
  • Develop, implement and support EGUWI H&S strategy and ensure alignment with Enbridge H&S strategy.
  • Offer subject matter expertise and leading industry practices perspective and recommendations to influence decisions of the IMS leadership group and MP04 working group.
  • Direct and/or manage EGUWI response to H&S issues; providing subject matter expert perspective and regulatory interaction/guidance as required.
  • Evaluation of the effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Ensure H&S programs and policies are aligned with the Enbridge IMS and integrated with GDS IMS.
  • Ensure ongoing assessment of EGUWI H&S performance data.
  • Manage the company’s compliance with all relevant H&S regulations – including support for H&S audits and ongoing EGUWI H&S self-assessments.
  • Ensure appropriate risk management methodologies are followed and EGUWI executives are aware of our critical personal safety risks.
  • Enable cross-functional teamwork relationships with EGUWI Engineering, Distribution Operations, STCO, Real Estate and Workplace Services (REWS), and with the Safety & Reliability team.
  • Facilitate process innovation through integration and collaboration across EGUWI functions (e.g., Engineering, Distribution Operations Support) and with the Safety & Reliability team.
  • Participate on various internal and external committees and forums to share leading practices, introduce innovative ideas to the organization, and influence emerging regulations.
  • Manage safety team resources including hiring and recruiting of all staff and contingent contractors.
  • Accountable for annual budget planning and management for EGUWI safety team.
  • Operationalize the Enbridge Safety Culture Framework by promoting and seeking out opportunities to strengthen safety culture traits, attributes and characteristics.
  • Provide safety training strategy and work closely with Operations to ensure effective safety training and competency programs.
  • Support operations in Emergency Response strategy and participate in emergency drills and crisis management teams/Incident Command Teams.
