Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3 + years of related working in one of the following specialized fields: electric propulsion, machinery control, power generation or distribution systems
- Experience with Government or commercial shipbuilding programs
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance (US Citizenship)
Responsibilities
- Review electrical systems design drawings, interpret ship specifications, evaluate power and lighting systems, and electric or diesel-electric propulsion.
- Write electrical system specifications for concept, preliminary and contract-level designs and ship modifications.
- Review marine electrical systems and define engineering requirements. Develop system documentation and ship specifications.
- Perform design and calculations including but not limited to EPLA (Electric Power Load Analysis), Arc-Flash Analysis, Electrical System Survivability Analysis, and Ground Fault Analysis.
- Conduct design, analysis, studies, and recapitalization of electrical circuits, power monitoring and control systems, electric propulsion, and power generation.
- Evaluate effect of new or modified electrical subsystems on overall system performance.
- Review and adjudicate system design specifications, test requirements, Departures from Specification (DFS’s), Request for Waiver (RFW), and Engineering Changes (EC’s).
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of U.S. Navy Power Distribution Architectures
