- Understanding of common manufacturing processes such as machining, bending and how this impacts design.
- Basic knowledge of precision machine design.
- Working knowledge of typical materials and finishes and related properties for semiconductor capital equipment, optics & systems that use UV light.
- Ability to apply mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, machine elements, materials, fabrication methods, statics, mechanics of materials, fluid flow, and heat transfer to design tasks at hand.
- Experience in 3D solid modeling is required. Solidworks preferred but not necessary.
- Experience with PDM systems, preferred.
- Ability to both receive and give information via written and verbal communications.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to execute more than one project at a time.
- Ability to design in a R&D environment, adapt, and persevere in the fast-paced semiconductor industry including requirements developing as the project matures.
- Basic understanding of AC and DC circuits.
Responsibilities
- CAD mechanical design using Solidworks.
- Owning design of sub system(s) from concept to release, including design reviews.
- Perform feasibility studies and tolerance analysis and apply appropriate GD&T.
- Conduct sufficient analysis to conclude that the design will be successful prior to cutting parts. Analysis includes but not limited to static, vibration, thermal, and fluid.
- Work with cross-functional groups to gather requirements.
- Build prototypes, contribute to test procedures and fixtures for design validation and support system integration.
- Generating technical documentation (e.g., detailed drawings, analysis results, test reports, etc.) for the work at hand.
- Release designs to manufacturing and support the handoff from engineering to production.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience/knowledge in several of these areas is desirable but not required: opto-mechanical systems, vacuum systems, design of inspection equipment or similar instruments, motion controls, electronics, tooling & test fixture design, supplier management, new product introduction, manufacturing support, SEMI standards.
