Mechanical Systems Engineer

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering (or related)
2+ years in mechanical design, collegiate design competition, or related experience
Demonstrated ability to take ownership or leadership in an engineering project
Demonstrated ability to seek out key (missing) information for challenging tasks
Mechanical design and drawing generation using CAD tools
Kinematic analysis and optimization
Structural analysis utilizing hand calculations and finite element methods
Materials selection inclusive of alloys, heat treatments, allowables, and finishes
Roller element bearing selection and sizing
Involute gear tooth design and analysis
Ball and/or Lead screw design and analysis

Support the development of the critical, actuated mechanisms on the aircraft
Support the design, build, and implementation of hydraulic-based structural loading test stands for qualification, certification, and production applications
Team responsibilities include the electric propulsion system, propeller tilt mechanism, the variable pitch mechanism, the flight controls surface mechanisms (flaperons and ruddervators), and the landing gear systems
Execute on the technical design direction, as well as ownership of the components from concept through delivery to manufacturing
