Requirements

• A Medical Assistant certificate, along with a high school diploma or equivalent required.
• A minimum of 1 year of experience as a back office Medical Assistant preferred in the outpatient setting, medical practice, or clinic setting.
• Phlebotomy certified preferred
• Nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification, preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish/Mandarin/Cantonese, depending on location, strongly preferred.
• A minimum requirement of a valid BLS certification or higher, following the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Functions as an AltaMed ambassador at the assigned clinic, PSC, or Patient Registry team.
• Welcoming and attentive to the needs of all patients and creates a positive patient experience.
• Assists in the provision of direct patient care by performing routine patient care procedures and technical/clerical support services in the clinical setting.
• Builds relationships with patients, listening to them and gaining their trust.
• Documents all specialties in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Assists with administrative responsibilities that include providing feedback on Back-Office processes to the Nursing Supervisor/Manager.
• Assists in achieving department goals and objectives by providing support and guidance to the Medical Assistant team as a mentor and trainer.
• Provides other duties over the telephone if working at the Patient Service Center.

Preferred Qualifications
