Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Diploma program from an accredited educational institute
  • Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, not required
  • 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant or related position in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting is preferred
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Live and exemplify TOI core values, providing outstanding customer service and promoting a positive experience for patients and staff members
  • Greet and interview patients to gather health history, take appropriate vital signs such as patient height, weight, and blood pressure, review current medications, and record in medical record
  • Maintain accurate patient medical records, including demographic, current medications and/or labs, allergies, insurance, and prescription information
  • Schedule appointments, complete patient registration, and collect payments, as needed
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by physician
  • Manage patient care flow and help to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Support patient education efforts by explaining policies, procedures, and services to patients using administrative knowledge
  • Assist with inventory organization and stocking of exam rooms and labs
  • Provide support to pharmacy department including processing prescriptions, preparing and labeling medications, obtaining authorizations, assisting patients with applying for financial assistance, and inventory management, as needed
  • Maintain and protect confidentiality of all organizational information including patient and financial information
  • Participate in staff huddles and meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, not required
  • 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant or related position in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting is preferred
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification preferred
