Requirements
- High school graduate or GED
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Diploma program from an accredited educational institute
- Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, not required
- 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant or related position in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting is preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Live and exemplify TOI core values, providing outstanding customer service and promoting a positive experience for patients and staff members
- Greet and interview patients to gather health history, take appropriate vital signs such as patient height, weight, and blood pressure, review current medications, and record in medical record
- Maintain accurate patient medical records, including demographic, current medications and/or labs, allergies, insurance, and prescription information
- Schedule appointments, complete patient registration, and collect payments, as needed
- Administer medications and injections as directed by physician
- Manage patient care flow and help to identify opportunities for improvement
- Support patient education efforts by explaining policies, procedures, and services to patients using administrative knowledge
- Assist with inventory organization and stocking of exam rooms and labs
- Provide support to pharmacy department including processing prescriptions, preparing and labeling medications, obtaining authorizations, assisting patients with applying for financial assistance, and inventory management, as needed
- Maintain and protect confidentiality of all organizational information including patient and financial information
- Participate in staff huddles and meetings
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, not required
- 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant or related position in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting is preferred
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification preferred
