Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Equivalency
- Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information
- Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate to be received within 90 days
- Prior working experience in a medical office/clinic performing clinical MA duties
- Certified MA from the National Health Career Association (NHA)
- Completed any MA education program, but has not received certification as of yet
Responsibilities
- Check in patients
- Obtain vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, temperature)
- Medication reconciliation
- Collect patient medical history information
- Expedite patient flow
- Room patients
- Stock clinic with supplies
- Navigate electronic health record system (EPIC)
- Schedule and follow-up with appointments
- Assist with medication fill and refill requests
- Check for prior authorizations
- Schedule tests, procedures, and consultations
- Perform procedures such as EKG, phlebotomy, lab tests, and injections (once competency has been assessed)
- Communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, patients, and physicians in a respectful manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Current MA Certification from AAMA, AMT, NAHP, NCCT, AAMP
- Graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program with current Licensure without restrictions
- Basic computer skills, specifically with navigating within databases containing highly confidential information
- Basic Life Support and other advanced training as appropriate, within 90 days
