Requirements

  • Two years of clinical mental health experience post-master’s degree
  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field from an accredited program and completion of clinical training hours necessary to achieve independent licensure
  • A valid, unrestricted license issued by the Arizona State Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), OR Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC)/Licensed Independent Addiction Counselor (LIAC) OR Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and medical staff
  • Coordinate regarding psychosocial treatment issues related to patient care
  • Present relevant findings that pertain to mental status and patient risk in an acute environment
  • Prepare comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments, mental status exams, treatment plans, and other clinical reports
  • Complete all required mental health forms and documents in the patient’s medical record
  • Provide individual treatment and crisis intervention services
  • Complete and coordinate Mental Health Petitions with community providers and testify in court as needed
  • Facilitate therapeutic and psychoeducational group treatment
  • Conduct short-term, solution-focused therapy with the use of treatment plans, goals, and objectives
  • Develop treatment plans for patients with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders
  • Maintain familiarity with mental health diagnoses that correspond to ICD-9DM and DSM-IV TR (DSM 5) manuals
  • Coordinate treatment with MSCO, courts, and community providers for continuity of care
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in the management of information and in accordance with HIPAA rules
  • Adhere to and model the code of ethics associated with clinical specialty, license, or certification
  • Meet regulatory, licensure, health assessment, and CPR requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Broad-based work experience with the seriously mentally ill (SMI), substance abuse, direct mental health services, and crisis work
