Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of related work experience underwriting middle market accounts
- Previous Commercial Property Casualty insurance underwriting experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of commercial multi-line product line insurance concepts and terminology
- Comprehensive knowledge of reinsurance procedures
- Excellent analytical, human relations and communication skills
- Ability to meet limited travel requirements
Responsibilities
- Underwrite multi-line middle market accounts
- Provide feedback to agency partners and underwriting management regarding trends and issues within their assigned territory, and provide solutions
- Work with other business functions to ensure service and quality objectives are met
- Demonstrate an understanding of the insurance marketplace and emerging industry issues
- Complete assigned project work requiring a high level of technical knowledge
- Perform other job-related duties including training, presenting, attending sales meetings, traveling to agents, participating in audits, and covering desks for other Underwriters
- Work closely with independent agents to obtain information needed to properly underwrite, price, and program individual policies/accounts
- Work on the more complex underwriting assignments, through the use of manuals, established procedures, and information collected. Refer business outside of authority limit
- Be responsible for underwriting of the more complex, larger accounts and reinsurance placements
- Evaluate established procedures for effectiveness and recommend change
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Completed insurance courses such as IIA and/or CPCU preferred
