Requirements

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
  • 2-5 years of related experience with Modular Furniture installation, or equivalent
  • Ability to read and understand building plans with a knowledge of building codes and regulations
  • The ability to maintain a good working relationship with all involved personnel, including treating others with respect and kindness
  • Assumes responsibility for personal conduct which supports both the University and Departmental standards while promoting a positive image of Physical Facilities and Moving Services
  • Adheres to university standards and policies
  • Supports the department and university mission statements
  • Has a valid Utah Drivers’ License
  • Ability to complete BYU CMV program upon employment

Responsibilities

  • Installation and maintenance of all modular furniture product lines.
  • Receive, deliver and stage all Steelcase furniture included in project plans.
  • Read /field verify plans and coordinate with physical facilities shops, planning department, and project requestors for project needs. (Electrical, Carpentry and Paint Shops, etc.)
  • Estimate Installation Labor for Cost Estimates as requested.
  • Ability to Mentor and Train Student Staff Employees and create an efficient working environment
  • Knowledge of Modular Furniture Electrical Systems and ability to trouble shoot and identify circuit failure. Willing to work with PF Electrical Shop and instruct electricians on Circuit Lines during installation
  • Assist with special event set ups including Tables chairs and modular stage delivery and set up
  • Assist with surplus sales as assigned
  • Maintain Used Office Furniture Inventory
  • Work directly with PF Moving Services manager to provide rigging and heavy logistics for campus departments
  • Unload and receive Steelcase and other furniture
  • Inventory Steelcase in Warehouse
  • Prepare paperwork for Steelcase supervisor
  • Required to complete all safety training
  • Respond to unscheduled daily shop requests which vary in nature and urgency
  • May require overtime and late-night work assignments
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Moving Shop Management

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of related experience with Modular Furniture installation, or equivalent
  • Has excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills
  • Have proficient knowledge of Physical Facilities Work Order system (GUI) to be able to search for work orders, determine who from the other shops are assigned to the work order, check labor details, and access plans.
  • Forklift and lift truck certified upon employment
