Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required competencies as listed on the job description
- Must meet one of the following requirements: • Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program OR: • Completion of the Allina Health Nursing Assistant Academy Program OR: • Previous direct patient care experience
Responsibilities
- Provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
- Create and maintain a safe environment for patients assigned to monitoring.
- Notifies nurse and other clinical staff via communication equipment.
- Visual Monitoring of patient(s).
- Monitors and redirects up to twelve (12) patients at a time.
- Calls the beside staff if there is an issue.
- Makes observations/collects and reports data.
- Maintains eye and concentration on screen at all times and never leave monitor station unattended.
- Ensures that patient information is entered and sent into system.
- Introduces self to patients over Continuous Visual Monitoring system.
- Seeks help or advice as soon as possible when patient appears to pose a threat to themselves or others.
- Attends to patients needs promptly, giving full attention when providing care.
- Verbally redirects patient over communication device.
- Manages technical and support systems with unit personnel and inter-departmental hospital services to facilitate communication and access to pertinent data and/or supplies needed for patient care.
- Notifies Registered Nurse (RN) on unit if cart or system is not working correctly, including if viewing of patient is lost.
- Records and checks all required information on requests, requisitions and/or computer entry to other departments.
- Processes and facilitates the coordination of orders in proper sequence including multi-step orders.
- Completes computer and/or hardware related issue prevention and maintenance tasks including follow-up to ensure resolution to outstanding issues.
- Contributes to an environment that is safe for patients, visitors and employees.
- Reports environmental risks or equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
- Uses equipment following policies, procedures and manufacturer directions or standards.
- Participates in learning and other opportunities for developing and maintaining competence in role.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of telehealth experience with patient interaction
- 2+ years of demonstrated computer experience with systems such as Microsoft Suite
