Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent with recent experience in a health care setting providing patient care
- BCLS certified within the first 90 days
Responsibilities
- Performs desk duties in a clerical role with high levels of accuracy
- Answers phones utilizing proper telephone etiquette
- Screens phone calls and forwards requests and messages appropriately
- Enters calls utilizing the call log
- Answers call lights and relays messages to appropriate nursing personnel
- Acknowledges and assists all internal and external customers upon arrival at the nurses station
- Ensures ongoing and accurate awareness of unit census and patient needs
- Assists in patient care with EKG’s, splint application, crutch training and other patient care as assigned or identified
- Performs and documents appropriate patient procedures according to hospital policy and procedure
- Performs duties that enhance organization of patient care on the unit
- Cleans and stocks the department when time allows between patients
- Notifies appropriate resources upon identifying broken, missing, or equipment out of stock
- Maintains a safe environment in patient care
- Obtains blood specimens via venipuncture and labels specimens appropriately
