Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Packaging Engineering, Engineering, Packaging Science, or a related field
- Ideally 3+ years of experience in a Packaging Engineering or related role, preferably at an industrial manufacturing company
- Knowledge of international, national, and state packaging regulations and directives is preferred. Experience working with EU-related projects is highly preferred
- Knowledge of various packaging materials and technologies and applicable ASTM and ISTA testing standards
- Experience with product information business systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
- CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks and ArtiosCAD, and experience with MS Office programs
- Experience using palletization software such as TOPS or CAPE
- Effective verbal, written, and presentation communication
- Demonstrated project management experience
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with New Product Introduction, Supply, Quality, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Materials teams to ensure current and new packaging solutions align with customer needs, business objectives, and sustainability goals
- Ensure nVent packaging meets all international, national, and state packaging regulations and directives
- Design and develop packaging solutions from a variety of materials for new and existing products
- Maintain and develop packaging design and testing standards to meet internal and external customer requirements
- Create and lead packaging specifications and documentation for all packaging materials
- Coordinate development, delivery, testing, and review of packaging prototypes
- Provide direct and indirect customer support to address questions and concerns related to packaging
- Generate and lead packaging value engineering initiatives to improve quality and sustainability and reduce costs
- Participate in co-op recruiting and training for Packaging Engineering
- Coordinate manufacturing and distribution trials of new packaging/product systems
- Coordinate internal R&D test lab and external third-party packaging performance testing
- Support the quoting, purchasing, and installation of packaging equipment and tooling
- Occasional travel to attend packaging-related conference or expos
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with EU-related projects is highly preferred
