Requirements

• High School diploma or GED
• Experience in a role that required strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail
• Demonstrated typing proficiency
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Detail-oriented
• Self-motivated
• Team-oriented
• Comfortable making outbound calls to insurance carriers
• Outstanding time management skills
• Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks while remaining self-directed

Responsibilities

• Ensuring the team meets production standards, deadlines and work schedules
• Assisting with the selection, training, and coaching of patient account representative staff
• Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive, upbeat, people oriented departmental culture
• Initiating contact with client hospital patients’ insurance companies via telephone and website
• Completing appropriate electronic systems with detailed benefit and pre-certification/authorization information
• Identifying inaccurate plan codes and making corrections in the hospital’s registration system and billing system
• Working directly with multiple insurance websites to obtain benefits, authorization validation and notice of admissions
• Adhering to the guidelines set forth in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
