Patient Observer

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare OR ADN nursing student with successful completion of medical/surgical practicum OR EMT certification, OR Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT)
• Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology
• Excellent verbal, interactive, and listening skills
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with other healthcare providers.
• Current BLS certification

Responsibilities

• Providing constant patient observation under the direction of a registered nurse (RN)
• Conducting safety checks on patients under the direction of the RN when assigned to the Behavioral Health unit
• Upholding established ECH customer service standards at all times

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a patient care setting preferred
• Volunteer or educational experience working with patients with mental illness (for placement in the Behavioral Health Unit or Emergency Department)
