Requirements

  • A associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field with at least 4 years’ experience, with at least 1 year experience as a people manager or equivalent work experience that provides exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (Workday, ADP, Paychex, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Precision is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of payroll data.
  • Comfort with numbers and calculations involved in payroll processing.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize tasks to meet payroll deadlines.
  • Understanding of relevant tax laws, employment regulations, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and verify employee timekeeping records
  • Calculate and process payroll accurately and on time
  • Review and resolve any discrepancies in payroll data
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management
  • Analyze payroll data for trends and discrepancies
  • Identify and resolve any payroll discrepancies or errors
  • Create ad hoc reports as needed
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on payroll data
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Assist with external payroll audits
  • Stay up to date on changes in payroll laws and regulations
  • Maintain and update payroll system and software
  • Test and troubleshoot system issues
  • Identify and implement process improvements
  • Train new employees on payroll processes and procedures
  • Collaborate with IT and HR departments on system integrations and updates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as the Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) can be beneficial.
