Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of US payroll processing experience
  • Strong technical and hands-on experience with payroll
  • Experience in multi-state, multi-jurisdictional payrolls
  • Strong knowledge of payroll-related federal, state, and local regulations and payroll requirements
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
  • High ability to be adaptable and flexible
  • Detail-oriented and can maintain confidentiality in a professional manner

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties necessary to process multi-state biweekly, salary and hourly, payroll, commission payments, bonus payments, special payments, and taxable fringe benefits.
  • Audit employee data imported from the HRIS system into ADP, review errors and exceptions, and correct as needed.
  • Prepare special payments, complex pay, and payroll deduction calculations ensuring compliance with company policies, and federal and state regulations.
  • Assist employees and business partners with inquiries, concerns, or requests regarding payroll. This includes properly applying technical knowledge and skills, communicating, and listening effectively.
  • Set up new state, city, and county jurisdictions in ADP as needed.
  • Prepare and process paid time off (PTO) adjustments as needed.
  • Prepare and process stop payments, void checks, direct deposit reversals, and overpayment collections by company, federal, and state regulations.
  • Serve as subject matter expert and trainer for time entry in the time and attendance module or system for all hourly employees.
  • Manage the required Payroll taxes associated with state regulations (if required)
  • Prepare post-payroll reports, submit vendor check requests, and process garnishments as necessary.
  • Research, troubleshoot, and resolve payroll issues promptly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Canada payroll processing experience preferred
  • Candidate will preferably have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with outside sourcing
  • Excellent judgement and analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • High degree of professionalism and solid ability in delivering high-quality customer service and establishing/maintaining effective and collaborative working relationships
