Requirements
- Graduate from accredited Physician’s Assistant program with Surgical training.
- Certification from the National Commission of Physician’s Assistants.
- Knowledge of the professional medical practice and care to give and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of organizations policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
- Skilled in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of medicine to provide on-going patient care.
- Skilled in taking medical history, assessing medical conditions and interpreting finds.
- Skilled in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports, and responding to correspondence.
- Skilled in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
- Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situation.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and gather medical information.
- Give physical exams to make correct diagnoses.
- Work with Physicians and Nurses to prescribe and administer medications.
- Monitor patient progress and make adjustments to treatment.
- Instruct patients and their families about best practices at home.
- Document and update patient records.
- Refer patients to specialists or order laboratory tests as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior operating room experience preferred.
