Requirements
- Doctoral degree in a biological or health sciences field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
- Experience in animal studies
- Molecular biology techniques
- Cell signaling pathways
- Prior training in atherosclerosis
- Immunology
- Biochemistry
- Cellular and molecular biology is strongly preferred
Responsibilities
- Examine the role of inflammation in the progression of atherosclerosis
- Pursue specialized research training, education, and experience under the guidance of Dr. Gumina
- Plan, design, and execute experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the study of the role of inflammation in modulating atherosclerosis
- Collect and analyze data for research sponsored by the National Institute of Health (NIH) and other agencies
- Identify and select problems to be studied
- Develop and troubleshoot new experimental techniques and protocols
- Attend research seminars
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and support technical writing
- Participate in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding
