Requirements
- Recent or soon-to-be-completed PhD (within the last 0-5 years) in field in Chemistry, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field – expertise in applying scientific knowledge and conducting practical laboratory research
- Extensive experience in synthesizing and optimizing host materials for lithium-sulfur batteries
- Hands-on expertise in electron microscopy for characterizing reaction intermediates and products formed during lithium-sulfur battery cycling
- Proficiency in synchrotron-based X-ray techniques, such as X-ray diffraction and spectroscopy, for in situ studies of materials and interfacial chemistry during battery operation
- Strong foundation in electrochemistry, with the ability to perform cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and galvanostatic testing
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Expertise in processing and analyzing experimental results
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong publication record and external recognition in relevant fields

Responsibilities
- Conduct research to develop high-energy and long-life lithium sulfur batteries under the guidance of a supervisor
- Synthesize and characterize physical and chemical structures of sulfur cathodes in both coin and pouch cells
- Investigate the relationship between the physical and chemical properties of sulfur cathodes and their electrochemical performance
- Employ advanced characterization techniques, such as electron microscopy and synchrotron X-ray probes, to gain mechanistic insights into battery performance
- Perform data analysis
- Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications
- Present research at scientific conferences
- Prepare reports and presentations for group meetings
