Requirements
- 1-2 years flexible packaging equipment experience preferred
- Technical and mechanical knowledge of bag/pouch machines preferred
- HS diploma or equivalent/Technical experience
- Vision requirements of the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus to perform all functions safely
- Proficient mathematical and measurement skills. Knowledge of metric conversions.
- Mechanical knowledge of and ability to adjust gauges, scales and hand tools
- Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards
- Pouch/Bag making and film handling fundamentals
- Read dimensional graphic templates in both metric/standard and apply to finished product
- Regular attendance.
- Frequent interaction with others.
- Must have the ability to work in a team-based environment, assist others when needed and lead by example while focusing on safety, quality and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Set-up and operate machine to meet product requirements
- Troubleshoot equipment and product issues
- Perform and document quality checks and testing
- Conduct trial runs, monitor machine workflow and pack finished goods for shipping
- Assist in preventative maintenance of all machines and auxiliary equipment
- Assist with all Inspector/Operator functions including product inspection, packaging of product, area clean up, quality testing requirements, operating machine through break times, etc.
- Effectively communicate activities and issues to others at shift change
- Monitor and direct the activities of the Inspector Packer and advising guiding as needed
- Train Inspector/Operators and Inspector/Packers to a comfortable level of proficiency that will allow them to run through breaks and fill-in as an Operator as needed
- Ensure proper and accurate set up of the pouch machine
- Ensure machine is operating according to process specifications
- Record production information in SAP
- Actively participate in all Continuous Improvement, Safety and Quality initiatives
- Involvement and support of continuous improvement as assigned to teams, roles in maintaining DLM changes and daily in changes made as well as updating machine/department boards as assigned.
- Practices safety at all times in compliance with company and department safety guidelines
- Performs housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe work environment
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
