Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related STEM field, followed by 7 years of progressively responsible experience with database administration and management for large-scale production databases in a cloud environment.
  • 3 years of experience with database performance optimization, security, and disaster recovery strategies;
  • 3 years of experience with database backup and recovery, monitoring, and troubleshooting issues;
  • 3 years of experience with cloud database security and troubleshooting;
  • 3 years of experience with implementation of controls and policies for privacy, data security laws and regulations;
  • 3 years of experience with architecting, designing, implementing and supporting of cloud based infrastructure and its solutions for databases;
  • 3 years of experience with database technologies including MySQL, AWS Aurora, Oracle, and PostgreSQL;
  • 3 years of experience with automation tools including Python, Shell scripting, CloudFormation and Terraform;
  • 3 years of experience with AWS Tools and Services including Aurora DB, Aurora Serverless DB, Auto Scaling, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, Lambda, Redshift, Athena, Route 53, Performance Insight and Enhanced Monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Perform database administration tasks, including backup and recovery, monitoring, and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand application requirements and provide database solutions that align with business goals.
  • Conduct regular database performance tuning and optimization to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.
  • Implement and enforce security measures to safeguard sensitive data and comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Stay up to date on AWS RDS advancements, recommending and implementing best practices to optimize database infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical database issues.
