Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R) Certification
- Florida licensure as a General Radiographer (RAD)
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations
Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of technical procedures applying ionizing radiation to detect pathology (e.g., routine radiology examinations, motion-free exams, portable/bedside examinations, fluoroscopy and invasive exams, OR and ED procedures and bone density procedures)
- Regulate and operate equipment
- Review prep information with patients, explain the procedure and obtain written consent
- Document pertinent clinical patient information, such as medical history and allergies
- Demonstrate a calm and understanding approach to ease any fear or anxiety
- Transport patients to and from the department/their room and contact nurses about patients who are connected to devices or monitors
- Interact, communicate and collaborate with nursing caregivers to obtain signed consent forms, assist with exams and prep and determine the length of time the patient will be in the department
- Check written orders from physicians before the procedure and document in the chart after the procedure
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience as an Imaging Technologist in an acute care imaging setting
