Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public administration, or a related field (graduate level studies or degree preferred)
- Knowledge of disaster and climate hazard risks specific to the state of California
- Minimum 2-3 years in the field of environmental sciences, climate action/resilience, sustainability or community outreach and climate engagement/programs
- Minimum 1 year participating in programs with direct supervisory experience
- Proficiency in a second “threshold” language such as Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) or Tagalog to communicate effectively with diverse communities across California is preferred
Responsibilities
- Manage grant programs and collaborate with various organizational departments and community-based partners
- Adhere to program fiscal budgets in conjunction with leadership and ensure financial compliance
- Maintain compliance with grant guidelines, local, state, and federal laws, and organizational policies
- Identify growth opportunities and create strategic partnerships to achieve program objectives
- Foster collaborative relationships with internal staff and external agencies
- Collect, organize, and evaluate data for program performance assessment
- Assist in identification and research of grant opportunities to expand departmental portfolio
- Represent the organization at selected community events
- Be prepared to deploy as needed to assist with emergency operations across California, contributing to on-the-ground efforts in disaster response and recovery
- Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as CPR, CERT (Community Emergency Response Team), (CEM) Certified Emergency Manager or (PMP) Project Management Professional (PMP) are preferred
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience within the nonprofit or public sector
- Familiarity with grant management and compliance with local, state, and federal funding regulations
- Bilingual in English and another language is a plus
