Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical, Chemical, or Plastics), Materials Science, Polymer Science, or a related field required.
- Min 5 yrs years of dynamic experience in Product Design, Manufacturing, R&D, Continuous Improvement, Product Quality Management, or Material Science
- Medical device experience required
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety laws, policies, and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully implement strategies
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as solid social skills
- Proficiency with industry standard project management tools (i.e. MS Project)
- Ability to influence others and work across all levels of BD to gain support and drive team results
- Strong initiative and efficiency with minimal direction
- Ability to lead/handle multiple initiatives across multiple sites simultaneously
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Breadth of knowledge and working experience with or in numerous roles/functions within Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, or Continuous Improvement
- Experience with all phases of the Design Control process
- Understanding of manufacturing process validation including FAI/FAT, process development, and IQ/OQ/PQ
- Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures, and practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy strategic material configuration strategies, including resins and rubber stoppers, and design change initiatives to align with market needs and strategic costing.
- Lead and handle internal resources through dotted line relationships to achieve program goals and achievements.
- Work closely with global and multi-functional partners, authorities, and internal technical teams to plan and develop program scope, work, resourcing, and business cases.
- Lead conceptualization and kaizen/blitz events to develop a pipeline of high-quality, innovative ideas that enhance manufacturability, simplicity, sustainability, and cost-efficiency.
- Develop and maintain metrics for portfolio and pipeline health, including conceptualization, down-selection, feasibility, and financial results reporting post-project execution.
Preferred Qualifications
- A graduate degree is preferred
- Project Management Certification (PMI) preferred or working towards certification
- Black Belt Six Sigma, Lean, or Agile certification or expertise preferred but not required
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing plant
