Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree
- Valid driver’s license in New York State
- Five years of full-time, progressively responsible work as a technical specialist in construction and design-related fields
- Two years managing all phases of construction work of a scale and scope similar to the Authority
Responsibilities
- Administration and coordination of activities for the design and construction of complex and/or high visibility projects
- Coordinative, problem solving, and managerial functions for projects
- Ensure quality and compliance in design, construction, and contracts
- Make timely decisions to expedite construction completion
- Review design and construction documents and correct mistakes
- Work with architect/engineer regarding change orders and technical matters
- Provide ongoing communication with key stakeholders
- Make decisions on phasing and schedules; prepare/manage schedules
- Participate in development and review of project procedures and policies
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior project officers
- Resolve issues raised in field reports
- Make on-site change order decisions and negotiate with contractors
- Review contractors’ claims and advise senior management
Preferred Qualifications
- New York State Professional Engineers or Registered Architects
- Knowledge or experience in government safety or construction standards
- Management of complex personnel and technological issues
- Policy formulation, budgetary control, scheduling, and technical operations decision making
- Dispute resolution, management and communications skills
