Requirements

  • Experience owning the R&D process for new materials, particularly around polymer engineering and energy storage
  • Starting from scratch with material discovery, reverse-engineering, and even building a materials laboratory for R&D
  • Expertise across the entire project spectrum from R&D through to production in the invention of novel materials and components
  • Thrives in a dynamic environment where we are building out material science capabilities while kicking off critical projects simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Own the discovery and invention of new materials to be used for our highest volume and most critical components in order to increase the performance and longevity
  • Enable the affordability and commercialization of fusion through the discovery and application of new materials to withstand longer lifetimes and extreme conditions
  • Set up a lab to test and qualify materials used in all aspects of the fusion system
  • Bring best practices of materials R&D, specifically for polymer engineering, to components that have been looked over thus far
