Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related discipline required.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude required.

Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of chemical, biological, and physical tests required for research, development or quality control.
- Responsible for performing routine tasks and analyses on samples in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
- May perform specialized analysis under the direction of the Plant Manager, Laboratory Manager or Laboratory Supervisor to support applied quality assurance and control procedures.
- Maintains the laboratory as directed for compliance with company quality and hygiene plans.
- Assists in special studies in the laboratory and possibly in the field.
- Conduct all login procedures, both manual and electronic, of samples delivered to the laboratory, ensuring proper labeling, including maintenance of paperwork and logbooks.
- Sub-sample a variety of materials, process and product samples and follow proper analytical methods required for compliance in accordance with established guidelines and training.
- The primary function of the QA/QC Chemist is improving existing testing procedures with the goal of improving testing efficiency, accuracy, precision, and repeatability.
- Resolves quality issues including instrument reliability, accuracy, precision, turnaround time, capability, and value.
- Comply with federal, state, and local regulatory agencies in the disposal of hazardous waste materials.
- Provide technical support and repair on analytical instruments such as PARR Calorimeters, Karl Fischer, Ion Chromatography, Closed Cup Flash Point, GC/MS, ICP-OES, CVAA – Mercury Analyzers, and Microwave Digesters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior work experience of 3 to 5 years in the hazardous waste industry preferred.
- Prior supervisor experience of 1 to 2 preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in wastewater equipment maintenance and troubleshooting desired.
- Intermediate/advanced skills in applying Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare memos and conduct analysis of cost and process data desired.
