Requirements

  • Associates’ degree, or equivalent work experience
  • 1 or more years’ work experience in the area supported
  • Proven analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Review underwriting decisions for accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all reviewed decisions are correct before proceeding to the next department or action.
  • Communicate and send approvals to the appropriate department.
  • Conduct quality control checks on denials and send out appropriate communication to borrowers.
  • Identify issues of non-compliance and communicate to appropriate parties as well as the individual employee as warranted to prevent future recurrence.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Identify potential areas for process or procedural improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a current knowledge of the policies, processes and regulations affecting monitoring and/or auditing activities to ensure validity of analyses and findings.
  • Maintain records of discovered deficiencies to support reporting and trend analyses of activities.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of FHA, VA, and USDA loan processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in underwriting, quality control, or loss mitigation is helpful.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively, adapting quickly to changing regulations.
  • Self-sufficient with strong problem-solving skills, capable of finding answers independently using available resources.
