Requirements

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited AMA School of Radiology
  • 0 – 1 year experience as a general radiographer
  • Knowledge of HIS system
  • Basic Knowledge of RIS system
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • IDNS accreditation in medical radiation technology
  • AART certified or AART eligible
  • CPR certified

Responsibilities

  • Acquires quality diagnostic images for radiographic interpretation
  • Performs a quality exam and orders exams appropriately
  • Determines appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy and patient’s condition
  • Secures history from patient regarding reason for prescribed tests
  • Prepares, submits, and maintains all documents required for successful accreditation of general x-ray
  • Maintains integrity of supplies and equipment in the department
  • Provides and practices radiation protection and safety
  • Checks image quality to assure optimal quality is attained
  • Accurately obtains and documents patient history, intake information
  • Obtains 12 lead EKG as needed
  • Performs venipuncture per procedure/standards using aseptic technique
  • Performs laboratory functions: Collects and prepares specimens for testing
  • Performs responsibilities for occupational health as needed
  • Accurate collection and completion of urine drug screen specimens
  • Demonstrates ability to utilize medical equipment appropriately
  • Coordinates the flow of patients into and out of the department
  • Cleans, stocks, and prepares rooms
  • Demonstrates commitment to providing quality and safe patient care
  • Utilizes preventative measures and maintains compliance with established safety standards
  • Assists in the development and implementation of improvement processes
  • Adheres to all policies, procedures and regulatory expectations
  • Participates in performance improvement activities
  • Performs clerical duties such as maintaining adequate patient records
  • Demonstrates professional behavior, follows service expectations
  • Provides competent, appropriate and timely service to all customer groups
