Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse license in your state of practice and current CPR certification.
  • Must meet accreditation standards as required by the hospital.
  • Greater than six months of acute dialysis experience.
  • Proficient in all Resident RN-Acute duties and has greater than one year of nursing experience.
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required by hospitals in this program, which may include a booster when eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality direct patient care and renal replacement therapies, in a professional, considerate and respectful manner while interacting and communicating with hospital partners, gives pre/post treatment report through appropriate reporting process to hospital primary RN/Staff.
  • Provides initiation and discontinuation of the prescribed renal replacement therapy, including but not limited to formulating a plan per physician orders, verifying safety measures are in place and complied with, administering medications or other appropriate treatments, and documenting all activity appropriately on the DaVita approved flow sheet or hospital EMR.
  • Documents patients’ physical assessment, vital signs, treatment reviews and observations in patient medical records and brings issues to the attention of the physician and primary nurse after analyzing patient assessments.
  • Supervises day to day work of multi-treatment room teammates and can act as a resource or preceptor for teammates with less experience.
  • Communicates emergencies, patient life-threatening complications and related incidents to supervisor, facility/hospital staff, and the patient’s physician. Notes signs of trauma, patients’ general physical and mental condition, reviews dialysis orders, documents observations in patient.
  • Administrative tasks not limited to, verifying accurate charges and documentation are submitted in a timely manner, hospital orientation, homeroom meetings, and mandatory in-services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Critical Care Unit (CCU), Emergency Room (ER), or Medical Surgical (Med Surg) experience
  • Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) or Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN)
