- Associate’s Degree – Required
- Registered Nurse (RN)- Required
- Basic Life Support Program (BLS) – American Heart Association
Responsibilities
- Triage incoming phone calls and electronic communication; respond or escalate per protocols.
- Gather requirements from internal and external customers and provide information via phone, electronic messaging and in person.
- Work with physicians, nurses, and patients to resolve questions concerning medications, health education, and medical advice within skill level and scope of practice.
- Conduct outbound calls or emails to communicate test results and/or directions from the provider.
- Initiate and follow through on prior authorizations, referrals, and medication refills.
- Document results and other patient-related information in the electronic health record.
- Support office staff with patient care, when coverage is needed, including rooming patients, taking vitals, obtaining a comprehensive medical history, administering vaccines, injections and medications, phlebotomy, point of care testing and medication reconciliation.
- Assist the patient by acquiring the appropriate appointment, as needed.
- Record and maintain complete and accurate records of patient and physician communications regarding medical care according to standard medical record documentation requirements.
- Retrieve messages from phone mail in a timely manner and respond to patient needs according to medical priority.
- Submit electronically/fax new prescriptions and refill prescriptions according to Physician orders.
- Serve as a resource to clinic staff regarding medical information, patient assessment, and nursing management of illness.
- Perform document scanning, as needed.
- Acquire pre-certs/prior authorizations for patient needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree – Preferred
- 2 years Nursing/Patient Care Preferred
