Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assist rehab staff in moving, transferring, and transporting patients as needed.
  • Assist rehab staff with instrumental assessment setup, patient interactions, and instrumental assessment take down.
  • Receive requests (written, phone or in person) from therapists and/or providers to provide necessary bracing and orthotics.
  • Coordinate and organizes inventory of DME and bracing supplies.
  • Monitors and maintains advanced technologies and equipment, troubleshoots operational issues, and prepares equipment/technology/controllers for therapist use with patients.
  • Assist therapists with and provide patients devices that assist with mobility modifications.
  • Organizes inventory of walkers, canes, etc., cleans and repairs as necessary.
  • Provide orthopedic equipment in patient’s rooms and its return upon patients discharge.
  • Assists therapists with the application or removal of casts or splints, inventories, and orders all supplies.
  • Maintains competency and compliance with High-Level Disinfection Process.
  • Monitors and maintains endoscopes.
  • Maintain inventory and assure preventive maintenance of all equipment including advanced technologies and specialty program equipment.
  • Liaison between purchasing and Rehabilitation Department to assure proper equipment is ordered and maintained.
  • Work with public relations department to assure all outdated excessive equipment is donated to a designated charity, as appropriate.
  • Consultant to therapists to set-up equipment for casting and splinting, assuring that therapists have items needed for procedure.
  • Work as a resource to medical residents, therapists, nurses, and PCA staff.
  • Work with management team to assure costs for orthopedic procedures are being captured and appropriately billed.
  • Contact outside and special orthopedic suppliers to arrange purchase and delivery of special supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain equipment in good working order, arrange for special medical equipment.
  • As requested, collects information for budgeting process, assists with preparing, monitoring, and identifying budget variances.
  • As requested, provides input on budgets, programs and use of personnel, supplies, and facilities.
  • On an ongoing basis disseminates materials (e.g. educational items, patient care guides, schedules, filing).
  • As directed types, copies and files documents.
  • According to schedule and as requested, facilitates requisitions for equipment and services.
  • Maintains tracking mechanism of inventory supply costs, purchases, and charges.
  • Manage department budget related to supplies, bracing and orthotics, as cost center contact.
  • Working as liaison within the department to decrease the overall cost of orthopedic equipment. Streamlines product availability.
  • Works with Team Manager to assure accurate inventory list and accurate depreciation costs are allocated to the appropriate cost center.
  • Develop system to closely monitor all supplies that are ordered, and that the revenue is captured for all services.
