Requirements
- PhD or MD/PhD required
- Considerable post-doctoral experience in basic research required
- Considerable experience in oncology required
- Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred
- Understanding of key components of grant writing and obtaining funding in support of research required
- Experience with administration of funded research required
Responsibilities
- Provide scientific direction for correlative research studies in oncology
- Participate in the development of original research proposals as principal investigator
- Submit and administer grants
- Obtain portion of salary and research support derived from grant funding
- Track grant submissions to national and local agencies to ensure proper review procedures and prepare resubmissions as necessary
- Manage small research lab
- Supervise research personnel
- Plan/perform funded research
- Prepare and submit manuscripts for publication
- Track manuscripts through all stages of review process to ensure timely publications
- Revise manuscripts following review, proofread galleys for accuracy for publications, and ensure return to editorial staff or journal for timely publication
- Compose and present research at conferences
- Direct research personnel
