Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Four (4) years relevant research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Responsibilities
- Assist with updating collections databases including cataloging, entering/updating digital records, inventorying, researching object and/or material information
- Collaborate with the Director to prepare documents related to consultations and revise and resubmit inventories as needed
- Research Tribal contact information and locations, help draft NAGPRA letters, update contact tracking database, compile consultation notes
- Participate in consultations with tribal partners
- Remain current with NAGPRA regulations and updates and help revise CACHe procedures as needed and in consultation with tribal partners
- Work with the CACHe NAGPRA advisory board throughout duration of the position
Preferred Qualifications
- MA or PhD in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field
- Knowledge of and experience implementing the provisions of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA)
- Training in human osteology, bioarchaeology, and/or forensic anthropology including experience identifying fragmentary human remains
- Familiarity with NAGPRA policies and procedures for recording, reporting, and repatriating ancestral remains, associated funerary objects, unassociated funerary objects, sacred objects, and objects of cultural patrimony
