Requirements

  • Master’s degree in chemistry, Biology or Biochemistry with 0-2 years of experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical drug discovery industry OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biology or Biochemistry with 2+ years of experience in the biotech and/or pharmaceutical drug discovery industry

Responsibilities

  • Propagate and maintain various cell lines.
  • Utilize established protocols for sample preparation for proteomic analysis, including cell lysis, protein concentration determination, protein digestion and readiness for Mass Spectrometry analysis.
  • Accurately organize and report findings back to customer project leaders.
  • Assist customer scientists in the maintenance of high-end mass spectrometers. Maintains instrument readiness, standard preparation, QC’s, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with implementation and training of other scientists regarding instrument use and assay preparation.
  • Properly records all experimental data within an electronic notebook according to customer guidelines.
  • Works with advanced analytical instrumentation.
  • Agilent HPLC, High-End Thermo, Bruker and Agilent MS.
  • Utilizes cell culture and protein enrichment techniques such as protein concentration determination, SDS-PAGE, and Western Blots.
  • Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working familiarity with HPLC and LC-MS techniques, instrument troubleshooting, and method development.
  • Experience with cell culture and other techniques for protein analysis.
  • Able to meet timelines successfully with the utmost attention to detail while setting high performance standards.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex scientific data.
  • Ability to learn new techniques and expand knowledge and skill set.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortability with data review, analysis, and presentation of scientific results.
