Requirements
- Graduation from an Accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
- Must be in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and maintain all required continuing education/licensing requirements
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite products
- Knowledge and experience with PCC preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist the Director of Nursing Services in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day to day functions of the nursing service department
- Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures for the nursing service department
- Facilitate the resolution of issues and concerns associated with resident/patient care
- Ensure that reference material at the nurses’ stations is current
- Recommend written material to assist the nursing service department
- Ensure that the Nursing Service Procedures Manual is current
- Participate in the development, maintenance, and implementation of the facility’s quality assurance program
- Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
- Make nursing diagnoses that serve as the basis for the delivery of care
- Make daily rounds of the nursing service department
- Report findings to the Director
- Perform nursing assessments regarding the health status of the resident/patient
- Develop a plan of care and implement nursing care based on assessment
- Inform the Director when physician visits are not made in a timely manner
- Review nurses’ notes for accuracy and compliance
- Authorize the use of restraints when necessary
- Provide health education to patients and their families
- Assist the In service Director/Educator in developing annual facility in service training programs
- Participate in the development of written preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the nursing needs of each resident
- Assist the Resident Assessment/Care Plan Coordinator in planning, scheduling, and revising the MDS
- Participate in the development of a written care plan for each resident
- Encourage resident and family participation in care plan development
- Ensure all personnel are aware of the resident’s care plan
- Develop and maintain rapport with all services involved in the care plan
- Participate in quality assurance activities
- Adhere to scope of practice limitations based on qualifications
- Complete required forms and documents in accordance with company policy and regulations
- Perform general nursing duties in cases of emergency or staffing shortages
- Participate in the preparation of the nursing service department’s budget
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred
