Description

SMX is seeking a Scrum Master at either the Journeyman or Senior level with excellent knowledge of the scrum framework, artifacts and techniques and a Secret clearance. This individual will support mission critical Software Development activities supporting a development program at NAVAIR and will work with a motivated and professional team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the scrum team in using Agile methodology and scrum practices
  • Help the product owner and development team to achieve customer satisfaction
  • Lead the scrum and development teams in self-organization
  • Remove impediments and coach the scrum team on removing impediments
  • Help the scrum and development teams to identify and fill in blanks in the Agile framework
  • Resolve conflicts and issues that occur
  • Help the scrum team achieve higher levels of scrum maturity
  • Support the product owner and provide education where needed
  • Guiding the team on self-organizing to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks
  • Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog, and Release Management

Required Skills & Experience

  • Clearance Required: Secret
  • BS or BA degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Computer Engineering from a college program with ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.) certification
  • Journeyman Level – At least five (5) years of software engineering experience, performing software requirements analysis, software design, software coding, software integration and software testing
    • At least three (3) years of the five (5) years of experience shall have consisted of performing software engineering functions for a Department of Defense (DoD) Aircraft or Weapons System.
  • Senior Level – At least ten (10) years of software engineering experience, performing software requirements analysis, software design, software coding, software integration and software testing
    • At least five (5) years of the ten (10) years of experience shall have consisted of performing software engineering functions for a Department of Defense (DoD) Aircraft or Weapons System.
  • Outstanding communication, facilitation, negotiation, and coaching skills
  • Knowledge of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices
  • Adept at refinement, story splitting, estimation, velocity, retrospection, and other Scrum techniques
  • Planning and problem solving with product management and delivery teams
  • Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency
  • Expertise with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games
  • Excellent 
  • communication and mentoring skills
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating meetings at multiple levels of an organization and an understanding of facilitation techniques.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Experience with DevOps a plus
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Professional Scrum Master (PSM) 1 preferred
