Requirements

  • BS in Accounting or Finance required; CPA/CMA a plus
  • Minimum 4 years experience in general accounting: cash and investments, prepaid assets, Fixed assets, accruals
  • Inventory management and reporting experience
  • Understanding of Supply Chain and Cost Accounting – preferably in a manufacturing or laboratory environment
  • Comfortable working with and analyzing large data sets, and summarizing results in a meaningful way for non-financial stakeholders
  • Successful track record of effectively interfacing with supply chain, research, and manufacturing personnel to identify, support, and execute on value-added ideas to improve processes
  • Proven ability to solve complex problems and influence cross functionally
  • Experience with designing, implementing and monitoring internal controls
  • Experience in analyzing and reporting causes of manufacturing variances and recommending corrective actions
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills is a must
  • Ability to communicate effectively with non-financial stakeholders and identify meaningful trends in financial data that impact business and operational decisions
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills and related tools

Responsibilities

  • Perform month end close accounting responsibilities related to inventory and cost of goods sold including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other analyses such as cost variance reports
  • Analyze and report on inventory levels, gross margins, manufacturing spend, absorption, standard cost variances, E&O, reserves, and other standard costing concepts
  • Manage inventory using a standard costing method and ensuring compliance with US GAAP
  • Help to identify, perform and drive process improvement opportunities in the month end close process
  • Play a hands-on role in the day-to-day accounting operations and work closely with cross-functional groups to develop and maintain processes, procedures and policies
  • Help to prepare, consolidate, review and present cost analyses and KPIs on a monthly basis to finance and operations leadership teams
  • Work with the Accounting Manager to improve processes and policies
  • Conduct physical count of inventory and monitor cycle count program
  • Support quarterly and annual audits by the external auditors
  • Participate in the maintenance of the internal financial control environment ensuring data integrity, accurate financial statements and safeguarding company assets
  • Support / drive ad-hoc process improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with NetSuite, SmartView Planning, Tableau and / or Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides), preferred
  • Experience working at a laboratory, a plus
