Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or its equivalent) in statistics, mathematics, economics, financial engineering, data sciences, predictive modeling, or other quantitative disciplines and at least 3 years of relevant experience; or Bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent) in statistics, mathematics, economics, financial engineering, data sciences, predictive modeling, or other quantitative disciplines and at least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experienced financial services risk professional with solid understanding of existing and emerging risks facing the financial services industry

Responsibilities

  • Assist in oversight over the identification, assessment, management, mitigation, and escalation of existing and emerging risks affecting the firm’s capital or financial position
  • Collaborate with impacted stakeholders on strategy, root cause and approach for remediation of identified deficiencies and perform verification activities for 1LOD and 2LOD finding remediation
  • Provide review and challenge of risk-based capital practices including risk-weighted asset methodologies
  • Identify risks and evaluate control effectiveness for the capital management organization supporting regular reviews with the Capital Committee
  • Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive capital oversight program
  • Evaluate and credibly challenge, as appropriate, risk metrics pertaining to capital management
  • Assist with internal and external audit, examination, regulatory inquiries and investigation requests for information
  • Facilitate training across MTRM of capital management concepts and supervisory expectations
  • Support on-going awareness of emerging industry and regulatory developments as they pertain to the business and its customers

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial concepts and regulatory guidance
  • Sound understanding of financial management practices
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and changing priorities seamlessly
  • Ability to work seamlessly across the organization and various constituencies, both internal and external
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to serve as an effective independent risk manager
  • Strong relationship building abilities with individuals at various levels in the organization, demonstrating influencing skills to drive disparate points of view to a common goal and ability to communicate complex risk issues in a credible and convincing manner
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Fosters effective interaction with auditors and examiners
  • Broad knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation of market risk practices
  • Strong understanding of governance relating to risk management
