Requirements

  • JD degree from an ABA accredited law school, admitted to practice law in MA
  • 5 – 7 years of demonstrated work experience in a similar role (with an emphasis on e-commerce, tech and data privacy) within a business/commercial enterprise and at least 1 year with a law firm or commensurate experience
  • A strong desire to practice law on a small legal team as a corporate generalist and willingness to do all manner of day-to-day work
  • The skill to engage in discussions with engineers/tech team to provide legal guidance on technical matters
  • The ability to quickly grasp legal issues in unfamiliar and/or newly arising areas of the law and quickly shift gears between subjects/projects in various legal topics; analyze risk and offer timely solutions that minimize legal exposure while achieving business goals
  • An open and accessible personal style, are able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and to both legal and non-legal professionals, and encourage input and ideas from others
  • Self-confidence and can instill confidence in dealing with business and legal counterparts inside and outside of RGG
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, excellent writing skills, detail oriented, and an ability to work quickly and independently in a fast-paced corporate environment while producing high-quality work product

Responsibilities

  • Provide top to bottom general business advice and legal counsel to RGG’s internal business clients about a wide range of matters, including growth initiatives, technology partnerships, AI and other emerging technologies and business opportunities
  • Lead privacy and data protection compliance initiatives for US, EU and other international regulations
  • Be a member of RGG’s security committee providing data privacy and security advice
  • Lead the drafting, negotiating and completion of a wide variety of complex contracts and documents for RGG, such as SaaS agreements, service provider agreements, marketing initiatives and licenses
  • Stay current of applicable laws, rules and regulations affecting RGG’s business (e.g. e-commerce, data privacy and marketplace) to guide product and process development
  • Partner with the internal business leaders and cross-functional teams to identify and communicate risks and collaborate to successfully address changes in applicable laws/regulations
  • Engage in both individual and team goals that support Company-wide goals
