Requirements
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings.
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction.
- Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
- Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- 3-4 years of experience with an engineering firm required.
Responsibilities
- Assisting Project Managers with detailed engineering analysis in the preparation of engineering reports, permit applications and construction plan preparation.
- Directing and training Civil Design Technicians and/or Civil Designers.
- Independently evaluating, planning, and conducting work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Devising new alternatives/approaches to problems encountered.
- Performing difficult and technically challenging work with a specialty area.
- Exercising project leadership in a technical or managerial way on certain projects or overseeing portions of large projects.
- Drafting procedures and system requirements of clients.
- Coordination of municipal, transportation, traffic, and other disciplines.
- Completing permit applications for a variety of municipalities.
- Flexible pavement design and rigid pavement design.
- Geometric pavement and site circulation design.
- Preparation of specifications & cost estimates.
- Traffic warrants and guardrail warrants.
- Interpreting state and local design criteria and applying it to the specific project needs.
- Directing and training Civil Designers to assist them in completing reports, exhibits, plans and specifications and permit applications as required by the projects contractual scope.
- Producing high quality construction documents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license preferred.
