Requirements

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction.
  • Skill in the use of Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • 3-4 years of experience with an engineering firm required.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Project Managers with detailed engineering analysis in the preparation of engineering reports, permit applications and construction plan preparation.
  • Directing and training Civil Design Technicians and/or Civil Designers.
  • Independently evaluating, planning, and conducting work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Devising new alternatives/approaches to problems encountered.
  • Performing difficult and technically challenging work with a specialty area.
  • Exercising project leadership in a technical or managerial way on certain projects or overseeing portions of large projects.
  • Drafting procedures and system requirements of clients.
  • Coordination of municipal, transportation, traffic, and other disciplines.
  • Completing permit applications for a variety of municipalities.
  • Flexible pavement design and rigid pavement design.
  • Geometric pavement and site circulation design.
  • Preparation of specifications & cost estimates.
  • Traffic warrants and guardrail warrants.
  • Interpreting state and local design criteria and applying it to the specific project needs.
  • Directing and training Civil Designers to assist them in completing reports, exhibits, plans and specifications and permit applications as required by the projects contractual scope.
  • Producing high quality construction documents.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
