Requirements

  • 5+ years of programming in a COBOL/DB2/CICS mainframe environment
  • Working knowledge and understanding of DB2, SQL, JCL, CICS
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
  • Expertise in IBM z/OS, COBOL, JCL (Job Control Language), DB2, IMS DB/DC, VSAM
  • Strong knowledge of batch job execution, scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Experience in handling Medicare claims (CMS-1500, UB-04, HIPAA 837P, 837I)
  • Working knowledge of Medicare Enrollment (CMS-855) and Eligibility Verification (270/271 transactions)
  • Familiarity with RA (Remittance Advice) and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) processing (835, 837, 277CA, 276/277)
  • Strong hands-on experience in DB2, IMS DB, and VSAM for processing large healthcare datasets
  • Experience with Control-M, CA-7, TWS (Tivoli Workload Scheduler), or other batch scheduling tools
  • Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Knowledge of CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) requirements
  • Experience with RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret for mainframe security
  • Familiarity with MQ Series, FTP/SFTP for file transfers between payers, providers, and government agencies
  • Understanding of APIs and web services (SOAP, REST) for integrating mainframe with modern platforms
  • Ability to develop, test, debug, and optimize batch jobs for claims adjudication, payment processing, and reporting
  • Ability to identify and resolve batch job failures
  • Knowledge of Rexx, CLIST, or Python for scripting and automating batch job processes
  • Experience in DevOps tools for mainframes (Git, Jenkins, Panvalet, Endevor)
  • Ability to analyze claims data, identify discrepancies, and improve batch job performance
  • Understanding of CMS regulations, Medicaid, and Medicare claims processing workflows
  • Ability to work with healthcare business analysts, policy experts, and compliance teams
  • Experience in documenting processes and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Experience working in Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall environments
  • Ability to coordinate with external vendors, CMS agencies, and clearinghouses

Responsibilities

  • Modify test data or create new test data to ensure successful results of modifications to program code
  • Perform/ensure in-depth testing of software occurs including Unit Testing, Integration Testing, Regression Testing
  • Participate in the setup and support of the production environment
  • Troubleshoot problems that may arise getting to the root cause to facilitate solving the problems
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues
  • Thoroughly document code changes and defects
