Senior Cobol Developer

5+ years of related experience
Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or related technical discipline; OR the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience
Expertise in IBM z/OS, COBOL, JCL (Job Control Language), DB2, IMS DB/DC, VSAM
Strong knowledge of batch job execution, scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting
Experience in handling Medicare claims (CMS-1500, UB-04, HIPAA 837P, 837I)
Working knowledge of Medicare Enrollment (CMS-855) and Eligibility Verification (270/271 transactions)
Familiarity with RA (Remittance Advice) and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) processing (835, 837, 277CA, 276/277)
Strong hands-on experience in DB2, IMS DB, and VSAM for processing large healthcare datasets
Experience with Control-M, CA-7, TWS (Tivoli Workload Scheduler), or other batch scheduling tools
Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to Protected Health Information (PHI)
Knowledge of CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) requirements
Experience with RACF, ACF2, or Top Secret for mainframe security
Familiarity with MQ Series, FTP/SFTP for file transfers between payers, providers, and government agencies
Understanding of APIs and web services (SOAP, REST) for integrating mainframe with modern platforms

Responsible for translating functional design into technical specifications ensuring functionality and integration with existing systems/platforms
Create requests and provide governance to promote code to different environments based on firm standard
Troubleshoot production issues, document incidents, and provide timely fixes and drive problem resolution
Perform creation of unit, functional, integration and performance testing
